Hair parting can be a work of art! It can take the normal and turn it into the unique and special! This is why "Parts Pizzazz" came out awhile ago. But you don't need to spend a penny to come up with great parts! While parting hair is not as difficult as it might seem, it isn't as simple and running the end of your comb in a certain pattern. You have to complete the process for it to work, and we will show you how to do that here! Begin by parting your hair in a single straight line part. You can do this on the side or down the middle. Here we show a center, straight line part from the hair line to the back of the crown.
Center part - Blondie Using a hairstick end, or any other pointed tip, begin on one side of the part (shown in the picture by where her finger, not holding the stick, is pointed) and while keeping the tip of the stick slightly pressed against your scalp, begin your part design. Do NOT lift up the tip at all during the making of your design. The tip must remain down in order to keep the design in whole. Lifting of the tip will result in unclean lines, and an unfinished look.
Begin design on one side of the part, not on the part itself. - Blondie Your part design can be anything, but we will show you a couple of designs here. These are the most popular in our house. The "Curve"
The "Curve" pattern - Blondie To create the curve pattern, begin an inch or so to one side of your part, begin making an S shape pattern across the top of your head. You will go from one side of your part to the other, winding your way until you reach the back of your scalp. Don't lift up the tip of that stick yet!! When you reach the back, the top of your hair will look something like this...
Reaching the back of your part design - Blondie It doesn't look like much at this point, but that's ok! It is simply the result of all of your hair gathered on the end of that stick, or rat tail comb, depending on what you are using to create your part. By keeping all of your hair on the end of this point, your design will look clean and perfect! The next step is separating the hair to show off your part. It is important not to mess up here because your overall look is dependant on this step.
Reaching back, while keeping point down, separate hair from each side of the stick - Blondie While reaching back, keep tip pressed down. Your hair will be divided by the tip of this stick. Reach back and find the tip, then separate hair from each side of it. Once you have done this you can bring the stick upward a bit to make it easier, as shown in the picture.
Gently separate hair and pull to each side - Blondie
Once you have each side of the hair, gently separate and pull to each side. If you have really long hair, you need to be careful not to get tangled up. Using large sections in your parts may help.

The "Zigzag"
Zigzag pattern - Blondie To create the curve pattern, begin an inch or so to one side of your part, begin making an S shape pattern across the top of your head. You will go from one side of your part to the other, winding your way until you reach the back of your scalp. Don't lift up the tip of that stick yet!! Now simple repeat the instructions starting here and complete.
